Privacy Policy

Overview

Clarity is the trading name of Danny Griffin. Privacy questions and deletion requests can be sent to [email protected].

Clarity is designed as a private Buddhist reflection and practice app. We do not sell your personal data, do not use third-party advertising trackers, and do not create a public profile or social feed.

Private entries are stored in the app and generated reflections run on your device. Voice transcription may use Apple speech services as described below. The free on-device app does not send your reflection text to a Clarity-hosted AI service. Public content may still be downloaded from Clarity.

Information processed on your device

Clarity may store or process the following on your iPhone:

• Reflection text and local transcripts.
• Practice progress, meditation sessions, Buddhist learning state, calendar state, and app preferences.
• Audio recordings created during capture, if kept by the app.
• Local pattern or preference cues used to make reflections more useful.
• Apple Health data you allow Clarity to read, such as mindful minutes, sleep, heart rate, and steps.

Apple Health data is used on device for local pattern notes. If enabled, Clarity may also save completed Meditation Zone sessions to Apple Health as mindful minutes.

Clarity does not upload Apple Health data to our servers or send it to an AI provider. Health access is controlled by Apple Health permissions and can be changed in iOS Settings or the Health app.

On-device reflection

Generated reflections use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models on supported iPhones. Selected text and limited private Capsule context are processed on that iPhone. Clarity does not send these requests to OpenAI or another AI server.

Cloud Tap has been retired. Earlier saved Cloud Tap responses remain in your local app data. Historical anonymous account and purchase entitlement records may remain until deleted or no longer needed for support.

Clarity in ChatGPT

The public Clarity plugin and MCP receive the inputs submitted to their tools: search terms, source and text identifiers, selected page and daily-step numbers, calendar dates and filters, timer settings, and practice sessions explicitly supplied for calculation. Supplied sessions include an ID, date, duration and practice category. The service uses these inputs to return public content or calculate the supplied practice totals; read-only tools still receive these inputs.

The tools do not access private native-app reflections, audio, Apple Health data, purchases, or account records. When you choose to discuss text with Clarity in ChatGPT, text supplied in that conversation is processed by ChatGPT under its own privacy terms. The Clarity plugin does not make separate OpenAI model API calls.

The workspace also retains daily completion, reading language, unfinished answers and confirmed practice entries in ChatGPT-managed private card state, where supported. Welcome-picture progress and portrait appearance choices may be stored in the embedded browser's local storage. Portrait choices are preset appearance IDs, not uploaded photos. These records are separate from your iPhone account and are not a cross-chat backup. An exported practice log is a file you control.

Recipients and retention

• Clarity tools: tool inputs are processed to answer the request. The MCP does not write your reflections or supplied practice entries to a Clarity account database, and does not create a server-side practice history. Public content is cached briefly to serve requests.
• Cloudflare and Supabase: Cloudflare serves the website and forwards MCP requests to Supabase, which hosts the tools and public content. They process network and request metadata such as IP address, timestamp, request path, response status and browser information for delivery, security and reliability. The Clarity MCP and forwarding code do not add logs of tool-input bodies. Supabase's current Free-plan project logs have a one-day retention window, which may shrink if its log quota is exceeded. Cloudflare Pages debugging streams are live and do not persist. Providers may separately retain security or service records under their own policies: Supabase privacy and Cloudflare privacy.
• OpenAI / ChatGPT: selected reading context and answers you choose to discuss are sent to your ChatGPT conversation. ChatGPT controls storage of conversations and private card state. Ordinary chats remain until you delete them or your workspace's retention policy removes them. OpenAI generally schedules deleted chats for deletion within 30 days, with stated security, legal and de-identification exceptions. See ChatGPT retention and OpenAI privacy. Clarity does not independently set a retention period for host-managed card state.
• Your browser and files: local welcome and portrait preferences have no automatic expiry; they remain until the embedded browser clears storage or you clear its site data. Exported practice logs remain until you delete the file.

Your controls

You choose what to send to ChatGPT and what completed minutes to record. You can remove Clarity's connection, delete the relevant chat using ChatGPT's controls, clear embedded site data where the host permits it, and delete exported logs from your device. Removing the connection does not itself delete an existing chat. Private card-state availability and deletion follow the host's controls. For help with Clarity-held data, contact the address above. Do not send payment-card details, passwords, government identifiers or private health records to the public tools.

Optional support and previous purchases

Clarity is free. If you choose a one-time support purchase in the iPhone app, Apple processes the payment. The app reads Apple’s verified purchase status locally to acknowledge support and recognise previous purchases. Support never unlocks features. The free on-device app does not sync new purchase records to Clarity’s backend or create new anonymous cloud accounts.

We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Historical Cloud Tap account and entitlement records may include an anonymous user identifier, product ID, transaction reference and expiry status.

Speech and dictation

Voice capture is used to create reflection text. Depending on your device, language, and iOS settings, Apple speech services may process dictation under Apple's own privacy terms. Clarity does not store your voice audio on our servers.

Support contact

If you contact support, we will receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, device details, screenshots, or issue description. We use this only to answer support requests and improve reliability.

Data deletion

You can delete local app data from the app or by deleting the app from your device. You can also delete the current anonymous cloud account and related entitlement records from Privacy in the app. If you need help with deletion, contact us and we will help remove associated backend records where technically possible and legally permitted.

Younger users

Clarity is not submitted as an App Store Kids Category app and is not designed primarily for children. If a parent or guardian has questions about a younger person's use of Clarity or wants help removing related support or backend records, contact us.

Changes

We may update this policy as Clarity changes. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
